Winter Recital 2011
After much anticipation and a good dose of nerves, our students made it through their first annual Formal Winter Recitals on December 17th and 18th. We’ve never had so many phone calls asking what to wear, where to sit or whether students needed to memorize their pieces. But once we made our way into Otterbein’s elegant Riley Auditorium, we calmed our students with hoots and hollers and cheers, and their performances were spectacular. Special thanks go out to all the students for their hard work, the teachers for paving the way, to parents for their support, and especially to Otterbein for letting us use their stage, sound system and Steinway piano. What a treat!

MTMS 2011 Halloween Party
The MTMS 2011 Halloween Party was a scary success! As promised, we had enough sugar to keep your children up for three days and three nights (Parents: You’re welcome.) Most of it was handed out by our sassy and just plain weird acting students, who were challenged to “stay in character” during trick-or-treat. More candy was earned by our costume contest winners, tackling categories like “Most Likely to Scare the Dog,” “Most Environmentally Friendly” and “Most Technologically Advanced.” The walls held tombstones of musicians as old as Mozart (who was de-composing) and as young as Miley Cyrus (who was squished by a falling piano, turning her into A-flat Minor.) And of course, what Halloween party would be complete without sickeningly-sweet black punch laced with several flavors of Kool-Aid??
The Halloween Party also saw the debut performances of our newest youth bands, LOG-A-RHYTHM (comprised of Amelia, Dean, Arianna, Jacob and Ryan) playing Linkin Park’s “In the End” and THE D’JAAES (comprised of Dounia, Jack, Anna, Amari, Edythe and Sophie) playing “Dirty Little Secret” by All-American Rejects. Congrats to the hardworking students for phenomenal performances and to instructor Cody Boyce for helping them pull it all together!

2011 Mifflin Township Fire Department Open House
In honor of Fire Prevention Week, our local Mifflin Township Fire Department held its second annual open house at the Rocky Fork Boulevard fire station, just north of Kroger off of Hamilton Road. Like last year, the event was a blast. We got to try on fire fighter uniforms, climb on the trucks, watch the fire fighters cut up a car with the jaws of life, and watch the life flight helicopter land and take off again. MTMS provided the entertainment, which ranged from solo piano, guitar, and voice performances to full-band songs by Oblivion Fire. Read on to see photos from this wildly fun family event! 2011 Annual Open House
Our annual open house on Sunday, September 25th, 2011 marked the one-year anniversary of Michelle Tuesday Music School in Gahanna, Ohio. We could not have asked for better weather, so we were able to set up the stage in the parking lot and serenade Hamilton Road. The event featured performances by our students and teachers, fun and games, and raffle drawings every hour. Our raffle winners walked away with shirts, music tote bags, music books, and gift certificates for music lessons at MTMS. Read on for photos of the event. Continue reading →

Summer Camps! Week 6: Musical Theatre
Michelle Tuesday Music School is proud to present our very talented summer camp actresses, Maci, Skylar, and Jillian. These ladies tore up the stage at Gahanna Lincoln High School on Saturday, August 13th. Under the glare of the spotlight, our actresses shone brightly like the stars they are. 2011 Graduation Party
On Saturday, June 25th, we held our first annual Graduation Party in honor of graduating teachers, employees, students, and friends. Our guests of honor, instructors Carolyn Sigler and Nina Testa, both earned their bachelor’s degrees in music education from Otterbein College. We are very proud of their hard work and accomplishments, so we bought a big cake, offered performances in their honor, and threw pies at the lovely ladies, who were both very good sports about the whole thing. For pictures of our whipped-cream-drenched teachers and our incredible student performers, read on!
Summer Camps! Week 2: Rock Band
Meet our first youth rock band (ages 6-8): Radioactive Pizza! Riley, Avry, Zoe and Alex spent the week learning We Will Rock You by Queen, My Generation by The Who, and Louie Louie by The Kingsmen, with the help of instructor Cody Boyce, assistant Jenna Swarz, and helper Kai Breeden. Radioactive Pizza would like to think all of their families, friends, and fans who have encouraged them from the beginning. Read on for pictures from our professional photograher, As Life Goes Bye.

Spring Recitals 2011
With a little bit of luck, our month of Ohio monsoons lightened up and the sun, whom we’d all forgotten, peeked out for an entire weekend of student performances at MTMS. From singers to string players, from pianists to percussionists, from actors to student bands, we had it all. Some students offered debut performances. For others, it was old hat, another opportunity to light up the recital stage with a dazzling smile and a bucket load of talent. For the rest of us, it was pure entertainment. Our students, teachers, and staff worked hard to get this recital event ready, and we want to recognize each and every one of them for their contributions.
Read on for photos from the MTMS 2011 Spring Recitals, Saturday, May 21st and Sunday, May 22nd.
Now back to the rain.
St. Patrick’s Day Party and Irish Carnival
On March 20, we held our first annual St. Patrick’s Day Party and Irish Carnival. Students spent the weeks leading up to the festival earning tickets as rewards for good practice records, song mastery, and high scores in computer lab. Additional tickets were available at the door for 25 cents each, and tickets could be spent purchasing snow cones, getting temporary tattoos, and playing carnival games for fabulous prizes. As an added entertainment bonus, students performed music for us every hour on the hour.
What a turnout! We had no idea our Irish Carnival would be so popular with out students, but this will definitely become an annual event from here on out. Between the cakewalk, the baseball game, the duck pond, and ring-the-pop-bottle, it was difficult to tell which game was the fan favorite. The hourly mini-recitals were a special treat, as several of our performers played for the very first time. A special shout-out goes out to event planner Ashley Fredenburg and office manager Chris Fredenburg for their hard work in putting together this fun time. Check out our photos from this highly-anticipated and much-celebrated Michelle Tuesday Music School event. Continue reading →
Valentine’s Recitals 2011
It was the weekend before Valentine’s Day, and love was in the air… or was it? With song performances ranging from “True Love’s Kiss” to Weird Al’s “One More Minute,” our tribute covered both Valentine’s Day and Single’s Awareness Day. Once again, our performers worked hard to get ready and did an outstanding job, and MTMS was delighted to add our first Adult-Only Recital to the mix. As usual, many of our students left pumped up and rarin’ for our next performance opportunity, the in-house St. Patrick’s Day Party taking place on Sunday, March 13th. Watch for more information about the party, which is being planned by our very own student, performer, and favorite event planner, Ashley Fredenburg. Holiday Recitals 2010
Michelle Tuesday Music School held our first annual Holiday Recitals at our favorite host, Potbelly Sandwich Works at Stoneridge Plaza in Gahanna, Ohio. We had a great turnout despite the weather, and all our performers made it worth the trip with five hours of an fantastic entertainment. MTMS wishes to thank Potbelly for hosting and filling our bellies; the teachers for preparing the students and helping them offer successful performances; the office staff for scheduling, advertising, and making the recitals happen; the parents for faithful support of their students; and, of course, the performers for working hard and entertaining us on a couple of cold, snowy weekend days. Here are the much-anticipated photos from the event! Continue reading →
Gahanna Holiday Lights Festival
One thing is for sure: It was cold! The annual Gahanna Holiday Lights Festival was wonderful despite the chill, with activities ranging from ice skating to rides in a horse-drawn carriage, brats and burgers for hungry bellies, and entertainment that included an extra-large bumblebee on ice skates, a towering Iggle the Eagle, and of course, music provided by Michelle Tuesday Music School’s very own students, teachers, and friends.
